This morning found me at a networking meeting doing the usual rounds whilst munching on a very fine bacon and egg roll, washed down with coffee and OJ. It was a relaxed and informal affair with some table hopping and good conversation.
There was a really good mix of people in the room from a very diverse background but all of them had a common goal and that was to grow their business by growing their network of contacts. I managed to meet someone from a company I have been trying to work with for over 12 months, so now I have another angle to work at so for that alone it was worth attending.
We then had a mini seminar on social media. Now everyone seems to be an expert in social media these days and everyone has an opinion as to which way is best. This morning was no exception.
On Twitter, do we want to know what you are having for lunch or what bite of your sarnie was the best? not really, couldn't care less actually. However injecting a little of you into your tweets does help your followers see "you" rather than just you as a business.
Social media is here to stay but physical networking, in particular for Document Storage is an art not to be lost or dismissed. Explaining what we do at Safebox and how we do it needs more than 140 charachters!
So I will continue to network in person and online as both can compliment and help grow a business. In a way it is similar to storage, some will always have a physical archive and some will use cloud. If you're unsure which way you want to go, talk to us and we will understand your situation and give an honest feedback as the the best solution for you.
