Ex-employee absconds with archive. Not on our watch!

Far be it from me to say that sacked employees are nothing but reasonable, accepting and of no ill feeling, heaven forbid!

Well it's not a perfect world and there are those who would seek to take one last swipe at their former masters.

By now I hope that my musings have given you confidence that out of all the document storage companies out there, we are pretty well near the top of our game. Storage of a box is one thing but looking after it in transit and getting it delivered to the right hands is another.

Take the scenario (and this was attempted but foiled by us) a disgruntled ex employee who was on the approval list to accept deliveries of boxes; decides that their dismissal was a bit harsh and is going to chuck a big industrial spanner in the works to ensure that chaos ensues.

The individual emailed us in the usual manner, requesting a box but asked for it to be delivered to a home address as this is were they would be working from. We thought this a little strange so we called another of the contacts on the secure list provided by the company; only to find out that the person requesting had been dismissed days before!

Needless to say, the client sent through an updated security list, fairly sharpish and requested that we didn't deliver one of their boxes to an ex-employee at a domestic address. I wish we could have bottled their thanks and praise for our diligence.

For your peace of mind, our deliveries are carried out in a liveried, GPS tracked vehicle with a uniformed driver. Deliveries are electronically signed for and you are left with a printout with the box numbers delivered, complete with your signature. All our drivers know who they can release boxes to as it is printed on their workorder, if a pre-approved recipient is not available, they call the office. We try and contact another person on the list and if we cannot locate one, the driver returns to store with the box.

So before you start giving your archive out to just any Tom, Dick or Harry; check you know what they will do with it and how they will look after it.
