For those of us old enough to remember the second post and something called the GPO, the influence of modern technology on the delivery infrastructure never ceases to impress and amaze.
The DX system amazingly still seems to exist, although how this dinosaur hasn't fallen over is far beyond me. My personal experience was of a shed at the back of an office, with a communal and rather feeble lock and inside a lot of metal boxes with a number on them. You would then put your most trusted documentation in there and hope and pray it would arrive at the other end in some days. Not the most secure system ever devised but in those days there wasn't much choice.
The transfer of business documentation has moved on leaps and bounds and none more so than in the document storage industry. We are seen as the last line of defence, custodions of critical data and documentation and we have a duty to not only store it in the correct way but to deliver it safely to.
The institution of Royal Mail or whoever they will be when the last of the traditional services are sold to a consortium from Taiwan, do a good job, generally. However with the millions of letters they deal with daily, the system does have it's hiccups. Who can honestly say that they haven't had a letter destined for next door or for Accasia Avenue but in the next town.
Hence we don't use them.
Delivery companies are very good at getting parcels to you with their tracking numbers etc but your mail will be sorted / handled by maybe 5 depots, increasing the possibility of error.
Hence we don't use them.
So what do we do?
We use liveried, GPS tracked vehicles with uniformed drivers. We scan every item delivered / collected and you have to sign for it. We even print out a receipt there and then with your autograph on it.
This gives you complete tracability and peace of mind that we can tell you where your documentation is at any time.
We are very proud to say that we have never lost a box and we don't intend to start now.
So who will you trust with your documentation?
